2nd ASC Meeting 2024 – The Outcomes

The 2nd Meeting of 2024 of the Atlantic Strategy Committee under the French Presidency was held at IFREMER in Nantes on June 25th. The meeting was attended both in person and remotely by the members of the Committee and some guests.

The following topics were discussed:

  • Pillar III: Marine Renewable Energy
  • Internationalisation: Progress on Future Relationship with the UK
  • Cross-sea Basin Dialogue
  • Status of Play of the WestMED Initiative and the Greater North Sea Basin Initiative

Additionally, during the meeting, the Pillar Coordinators Election took place. We are very happy to announce that the new Pillar Coordinators for 2024-2026 are:

  • Carlos Botana Lagarón representing Spain for Pillar I: Ports as Gateways and Hubs for the Blue Economy
  • Céline Liret representing France for Pillar II: Blue Skills of the Future and Ocean Literacy
  • Emer Dennehy representing Ireland for Pillar III: Marine Renewable Energy
  • Eduardo Silva representing Portugal for Pillar IV: Healthy Ocean and Resilient Coasts

After lunch, there was a very interesting visit to the test facilities (climatic tunnel, hydrodynamics, and ocean engineering tanks in Nantes) for the participants attending the meeting in Nantes.
