FISATUR has proudly wrapped up its ambitious Trade Navigation Tour (TNT), marking a significant milestone in its mission to promote sustainable tourism rooted in fishing, aquaculture, and maritime heritage across the Atlantic.
Launched as part of FISATUR’s broader incubation programme, the TNT brought together innovative entrepreneurs from France, Spain, and Portugal for a dynamic journey of collaboration, learning, and visibility.
Through its incubation programme, FISATUR selected six pioneering initiatives reflecting the diversity and creativity of blue entrepreneurship in the Atlantic area:
- Balades en mer commentées en rade de Brest (France)
Guided cruises celebrating maritime heritage, artisanal fishing, and marine biodiversity in the Bay of Brest. - Preservation of Maritime Heritage in Esposende (Portugal)
Revival of traditional boatbuilding techniques and educational outreach on maritime history and culture. - Pescaturismo Nuevo Migueliño (Spain)
Authentic fishing tourism experiences aboard traditional vessels in Galicia, connecting visitors to the daily life of fishers. - PesKet (France)
An immersive experience promoting responsible fishing practices and consumer awareness through storytelling and local engagement. - Oficina do Mar (Portugal)
A hands-on cultural space offering workshops in traditional boat construction and maritime heritage interpretation. - Redeiras Atalaia (Spain)
Preservation of the craft of artisanal net-making and its integration into maritime tourism and cultural promotion.
By showcasing these projects during the Trade Navigation Tour, FISATUR aimed to promote real-life examples of fisheries diversification and cultural valorisation; support blue economy entrepreneurs through increased visibility and networking opportunities; engage local communities and youth in discussions on maritime heritage and responsible tourism; and strengthen the Atlantic coastal network and promote long-term cooperation between France, Portugal and Spain.
The TNT route included stops in Concarneau, Lorient, Quiberon, Viveiro, Vilagarcía de Arousa, Baiona, and Viana do Castelo, with a programme of events that includes stakeholder meetings, exhibitions, school workshops, and public presentations.
Over the course of the tour, participants actively exchanged knowledge in fisheries diversification, coastal tourism, and blue entrepreneurship. They co-designed local roadmaps and networking itineraries, visited enterprises along the fishing and coastal tourism value chain, and organized a variety of events including forums, seminars, open days, and workshops. The tour also fostered public dialogue to enhance social acceptance of fisheries diversification and promoted innovation through regional cooperation between Portugal, Spain, and France.
