The 1st Atlantic Steering Committee (ASC) meeting under the Spanish Presidency took place on 3 March in Brussels, bringing together Committee Members and Observers from across the Atlantic for a productive and forward-looking discussion.
The meeting featured the presentation of the Atlantic Success Case HY2FISH project, a pioneering project focused on the development of a decarbonised fishing vessel, highlighting concrete progress towards a more sustainable blue economy in the Atlantic area.
National Hubs also presented their roadmaps for the next six months, outlining planned activities and priorities to support the implementation of the Atlantic Action Plan.
A key point of discussion was the review of the Atlantic Action Plan 2.0, which is currently underway and will continue over the coming months. Committee members exchanged views on the review process and its strategic importance for the future of Atlantic cooperation.
In addition, Member States discussed the Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) Community of Practice, including its Terms of Reference (ToR).
DG REGIO and DG MARE shared updates on ongoing and upcoming initiatives in the Atlantic area, fostering further exchange and discussion among Committee members.
Overall, the meeting went very well, delivering productive discussions, concrete outcomes and clear next steps for the months ahead.
