The BlueLightS project and its partners have officially launched the European Blue Education Framework, marking a major step toward strengthening ocean and water literacy across Europe’s education systems.
This inaugural event, held online on 19 January 2026 (10:00–11:30 CET), opened the first webinar of a broader policy workshop series dedicated to building a shared European vision for Blue Education.
About the Blue Education Framework
Schools and educators across Europe are increasingly engaging students in topics related to the ocean, rivers, lakes, sustainability, and community action. To support this growing movement, the BlueLightS project has developed the European Blue Education Framework—a common reference point designed to:
Bring coherence across countries and curricula
Strengthen quality and ambition in Blue Education
Connect educators, institutions, and learning communities
The launch webinar presented the draft Framework’s core principles, structure, and purpose, while opening a dialogue with leading educational actors to gather insight ahead of the Framework’s wider release.
