The European Commission, through the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), has launched a new call for tenders to support the implementation of the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters”.
With a total value of €3.98 million, this initiative aims to accelerate the delivery of the Mission’s objectives by strengthening the capacity of local and regional actors across Europe.
Supporting communities to turn ambition into action
The tender focuses on providing targeted technical assistance and strategic guidance to public authorities and coastal stakeholders. The selected contractor will support the identification and engagement of at least 50 communities, including: regions and cities, small municipalities, water management authorities and port authorities.
The goal is to help these communities transform existing plans and initiatives into concrete, scalable actions that contribute directly to the Mission’s goals.
Leveraging local action for European impact
The tender will support communities in preparing and implementing transition pathways aligned with the Mission’s priorities, including:
- Restoring marine and freshwater ecosystems
- Preventing and eliminating pollution
- Advancing a sustainable, carbon-neutral blue economy
By facilitating collaboration, strengthening governance, and enabling access to funding opportunities, the initiative aims to accelerate impact at local level while contributing to EU-wide objectives.
